Genshin Impact: Who is Baal?
Genshin Impact The 2.0 update was released recently. It added the entire nation of Inazuma to the game once the player has reached Adventure Rank 30 and completed the Archon Quest. Inazuma, a nation that is isolated, was only made so recently by the Raiden Shogun.
Genshin Impact is expected to receive many new Inazuma characters in upcoming updates, including the Raiden Shogun herself: Baal. Although she is the country’s ruler and the Electro Archon, her backstory makes her stand out from the other archons in an interesting manner.
The Electro Archon
Unlike Zhongli and Venti, Baal is a younger god who has a shorter tenure on the throne. The original Seven, the victors of the Archon War, only have two gods remaining in the ranks of The Seven: Venti and Zhongli. Baal was not the original Electro Archon, although it has been unclear when she ascended.
Baal, despite her relative youth among gods, believes that she is the God of Eternity. She believes she is the noblest and “most distinguished” person in the world. She is selfish and cruel to others. She is an unyielding and suppressive ruler over Inazuma, which is not surprising. In terms of ideals, she’s basically the direct opposite of the freedom-loving and hands-off Anemo Archon Venti.
Baal is currently the only Archon who has abstained from granting Visions to the people of Tivat. This is a very recent development, as it’s been one year since she was last granted an Electro Vision at the time when the expansion begins. She sees mortals’ Visions in a way that threatens her eternal rule.
The Raiden Shogun
As the ruling Raiden Shogun of Inazuma, Baal has enacted harsh mandates on the country that isolate it from Tivat. Baal issued a decree of isolationism in the form of the Vision Hunt. However, it is not clear what her motives were. Inazuma bans visions, and those who hold them are punished severely (possibly even by death). Kujou Sara, Kujou Sara’s loyal bodyguard and retainer, is a few people Baal trusts to have a Vision.
Inazuma is considered a perilous country, and it isn’t easy to enter or exit Inazuma’s borders. Travellers must be aware that the ocean around the island nation can be perilous, and they will have to face either armed guards or strict border controls once they reach land. These actions are necessary to safeguard Baal’s “eternal ruler” since the idea of eternality is what she most values. Kazuha and Atsuko were also forced to flee the country under perilous circumstances.
There are still many mysteries surrounding Baal, both in terms of lore and gameplay. It has been confirmed that she is not playable in the current version of the game’s 2.1. She will therefore be released after a while. Baal is a key character in the ongoing plot and will be making appearances up to then.
