The Red Dead Redemption 2 Characters Based on Real People
Red Dead Redemption 2It is full of bizarre and fantastic characters. Many of the Van der Linde gang members were modeled after their actors. But they weren’t the only ones that were inspired by real people.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has plenty of characters who are directly based on real-life historical figures. Some references are funny, some very grim. They all serve to remind us how detailed Rockstar’s Western world is.
Albert Mason – Ansel Adam
Albert Mason is Red Dead 2’s intrepid photographer, and the star in the Arcadia For Amateurs stranger mission. Ansel Easton Adam is his inspiration. Adams was born three years after Arthur met Albert Mason in 1902. Adams is well-known for his black and brown photographs of wild animals. Mason’s dislike for game hunting is a reflection of Adams’s conservationist beliefs.
Angelo Bronte – Charles Matranga
Saint Denis’ Angelo Bronte is based on Charles Matranga, an early boss of the New Orleans mob. Matranga was actually one of the victims of the 1891 New Orleans lynchings in which 11 Italian Americans were murdered following the assassination of the police chief. Saint Denis’ newspapers contain references to similar events.
Bertram – Schlitzie
Bertram is one of the performers in Miss Marjorie’s act, the focus of the stranger mission The Smell of the Grease Paint. His appearance is based directly on Schlitzie’s sideshow performer and a part in the pre-Code horror film Freaks.
