Former PUBG Pro Player TaylorJay Dead After Police Manhunt
Taylor Jeffrey Johnson, also known as TaylorJay, was a professional /PUBG player. He died from a self-inflicted shot wound after a police chase. Johnson, who was 24 years old, played PUBG competitively between 2018 and 2020. He competed for eUnited and Exodus as well as YAHO. Johnson earned more than $16,000 over the course of his career and last competed for YAHO in September 2020.
Johnson fled North Carolina for Pennsylvania after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend. He ended up shooting her multiple times. According to reports, the shooting was caused by a domestic dispute. Johnson claimed that he killed the woman and fled North Carolina, even though she was taken to a nearby hospital.
Although it is not known why Johnson went to Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania State Police received notification that Johnson had entered Adams County at 3:00 pm on the day after the shooting. Johnson had to abandon his vehicle following hitting a spike strip along Route 234, which rendered it immobile. After Johnson was forced to abandon his vehicle by Pennsylvania State Police, the search continued on foot in a nearby wooded area.
For nearly five hours, Pennsylvania State Police searched the wooded area in search of Johnson. After a long search, police finally found Johnson and tried to take him into custody. But Johnson was able to shoot himself. Johnson was unable to survive despite the efforts of authorities. Other local departments such as the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and the state police helicopter assisted in the search. Johnson was not in contact with any other person before the shooting. No injuries were reported.
After the news broke, Valorant player Skyler Weaver posted a tweet on Twitter about the mental health issues Johnson was experiencing. Relyks claimed that Johnson was talking about conspiracy theories and ended up closing his social media accounts following many backlashes.
Jaden “Vegas,” Johnson’s former teammate at eUnited, also posted a response to the news about Johnson. He praised Johnson’s positive outlook and energy.
Vegas stated, “When I met Taylor for the first time, he had the most positive and encouraging energy I’ve ever seen. He encouraged me to improve myself and made me smile.” He asked me to try it out, and I accepted. His positive energy blew my mind.
