Blizzard is working on ‘character lockouts’ bug in Diablo 2: Resurrected

Yesterday’s launch for Diablo 2: The Resurrected wasn’t the easiest. Soon after the game went live, reports began to come in about disappearing characters. Blizzard temporarily took the game offline to perform “unscheduled maintenance” and it was back online within a few hours.
It turns out that it is not quite so. Blizzard posted an update today stating that they intend to release a permanent fix today for PC and “shortly afterwards” for consoles. It is recommended that players use different names to create offline and online characters as the bug is related.

Hooley, Diablo 2’s community manager explained that “Furthermore our team is working on the issue of characters lockouts.” “Many of these characters have been unlocked already. This process should take only a few hours.

“We’re currently evaluating activities that prevent players from creating or joining game lobbies. These issues are being addressed by our team.

Blizzard is also investigating crash bugs and an AVX problem that prevents players from starting Diablo 2: Resurrected. They are also “observing” other bugs and issues. Once the larger issues are resolved, we will share an update.

We can help you get started with Diablo 2 if you aren’t struggling with the above issues.
