It was not mentioned whether the new rulebooks would be an official release of 6e.

Fifth Edition rulebooks such as Mordekainen’s Tome of Foes or the forthcoming Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons let players add new elements to their campaigns, and give them more options to personalize their characters. Dungeons & Dragons is a popular place to homebrew content, with many players adding their personal flavor to the classic role-playing game.

Dungeons and Dragons is one of the most popular gaming franchises. For almost 40 years, the open-ended role-playing game is a cultural icon that has been enjoyed by millions of fans around the globe. It has inspired a lot of fan content, and the game led to Critical Role becoming one of the most beloved gaming series online. This has been so popular that it has its own official D&D expansion.
