Resident Evil 4 VR Releasing Next Month
Although Resident Evil 4 is only sixteen years old, gamers and horror fans alike have started talking about it. There have been hints that a remake might be possible, but the studio has not revealed any details. It’s not surprising that Resident Evil 4 is the most popular RE game in the series. Fans would love a remake or remaster. The VR version is still available, and there are new developments that reveal a release date.
In April, Resident Evil 4 was announced to be coming to Oculus Quest 2. It was not known much about the port, but IGN now reports that it will be available for the VR headset on October 21. A trailer is also linked in the report. It features elements that are familiar from 2005’s title but from a first-person perspective.
Resident Evil 4 VR will still have all the classic elements, but there will be a major update. The VR version of Resident Evil 4 will allow players to access their weapons from their virtual body. This will also include the ability to grab health items. To incorporate interactive elements and a new perspective, the typewriter save points and puzzle items have been updated. Although it won’t be the same as a remake it will hopefully offer a new take on one the most beloved franchise entries. It does however mean it is only available to Oculus Quest 2 owners. It is not known if additional VR ports will ever be available.
Capcom would be remiss if it didn’t at least acknowledge that Resident Evil 4 is being remade. Although it is possible that Capcom is working on one, fans will have to speculate and wait for confirmation from official sources.
RE4 VR is not available for the Oculus Qest 2, but it breathes new life into the original. It will likely have some limitations, but it will keep the game in people’s minds at the moment. This could allow for further discussion about a remake or remaster.
