Horizon Forbidden West Developer Details PS5 Character Model Improvements
Horizon Forbidden West, the next PlayStation exclusive title, is due to be released in February 2021. Horizon Forbidden West will be available on both the PS4 (and PS5), despite some impressive graphical improvements in trailers. Guerrilla Games, the developer of Horizon Forbidden West, has revealed the changes coming to the PS5 version in comparison to the PS4 port.
Bo de Vries, Guerrilla Games Community Leader, posted a status update on Horizon Forbidden West on the PlayStation Blog. It showed some of the improvements to Aloy’s character model. This post provides a detailed look at Aloy’s model, down to the smallest details like the character’s peach fuzz. You can also see more bones, which makes it more real.
The post states that the goal is to make the character and the game feel more real and lifelike.
In a blog post, the developer stated that Horizon Forbidden West will not use the PS5’s power to compromise the PS4 version. The game was actually tested on both the PS4 & PS5 simultaneously by the developers to make sure that there are no issues with the last-gen and current-gen versions. It is the goal of PS4 users to experience an immersive experience that’s as immersive as players with a PS5.
Horizon Forbidden West sounds more like an evolution of core concepts than a radical overhaul of the original game. Forbidden West will offer more depth in combat and a multitude of new places to explore in Forbidden West’s San Francisco depiction. Cross-gen releases have been controversial for some fans. However, this should not be a concern if Guerrilla is as thorough as it claims with both versions.
These updates are a great way to increase confidence in the PS5/PS4 versions of Horizon Forbidden West. Horizon Forbidden West is still some time away from fans, but it’s looking great.
