Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Trailer includes Game Callbacks and 4 Non-Blondes

When I started writing this article, I realized that there were so many Resident Evil movies or television projects at the moment. I had to constantly check to make sure I hadn’t mixed Resident Evil with Netflix or gotten details mixed up in the animated show Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. But no, this is Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, a sort of retelling of the first two games in one brisk live-action-film-long go. It even has its trailer. For some reason, 4 Non-Blondes will also be performing “What’s up?”

The trailer features Claire and Chris Redfield (played by Kaya and Robbie Amell) as they investigate the Umbrella Corporation. Any Resident Evil user will be familiar with their findings, which is bad news for all involved. The film will focus on Leon Kennedy (played in the trailer by Avan Jogia) and his time in Raccoon. The movie seems to be playing with the timeline because Leon is the protagonist in Resident Evil2 which occurred months after the original game.

There’s also a nice callback to the original game’s iconic zombie reveal moment. This, even though I was a mostly lapsed Resident Evil fan, made me laugh.

Resident Evil is Coming to Theaters on November 24. Fanbyte’s review of Resident Evil village has more information about the Resident Evil series.
