GOTG 3: Will Poulter Comments On Adam Warlock Being Stronger Than Thanos
Will Poulter will play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, reacting to being a stronger character than Thanos (Josh Brooklin). After years of speculation, it has been confirmed that the cosmic character will be joining the MCU. This has sparked renewed interest in his role in the franchise, especially considering the Infinity Saga is over.
Since Warlock’s arrival was hinted at in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, fans have been wondering when he would be introduced. 2 fans have been waiting to see when he would appear. He was a significant character in the Infinity Saga storyline in comics, so there was massive anticipation that he would appear in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. This didn’t happen, which is understandable considering how dense and packed these films were. These rumors led to casting speculations that have been going around for years. Director James Gunn had the unfortunate task of squashing some. That is until Poulter was confirmed as the MCU’s Adam Warlock. His appearance has been established for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The public is equally excited and curious about his imminent arrival.
Warlock was a crucial figure in the Infinity Saga comics story, as previously mentioned. He is considered one of the most powerful characters from Marvel lore and has once fought and defeated Thanos in print. Flip Your Wig (via Reddit u/l_l_l_illiam) asked Poulter about this remarkable detail regarding his character. He said that he is extremely grateful to be a part of the Marvel family and the Guardians of the Galaxy series. He revealed his superpowers and said he was ready to show them off on the big screen when he debuts. You can watch the interview below.
The chances of Warlock and Thanos battling each other in battle are slim now that Thanos is out of the MCU. The introduction of the multiverse may offer the possibility for them to meet on the big screen. There are many universes where the Mad Titan could be found, even though it is dead in the Sacred Timeline. These realities can overlap, and Thanos may end up in the prime MCU timeline, thanks to the ending of Loki. If this is the case, it’s unlikely that it will happen anytime soon.
Specific plot details are still being worked out for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. It’s hard to know how Warlock will fit into the story of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, there have been clues as to the potential themes of the third installment. This includes the current location of 2014 Gamora (Zoe Saldana), who fled after Thanos’ defeat in Endgame. The origin story of Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) could also be revealed. With production just weeks away, you can expect to find out more about the film over the coming weeks.
Marvel’s Phase 4 delays do not include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Here’s why the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film’s release date wasn’t pushed. The Marvel Studios Phase 4 lineup has been changed many times since it was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 in 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. was not released until late 2020. The slate officially welcomed 3 to the fold, however, with a May 2023 release. Black Widow’s and Shang-Chi’s success at the box office has made fans more confident about the MCU calendar.
The MCU’s recent successes with Phase 4 movies have not been without its challenges. However, Disney and Marvel Studios have made another significant change to their slate. This is likely due to production problems. These changes affected almost every 2022-2023 MCU movie. Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness (Thor: Love and Thunder), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and Thor: Love and Thunder were delayed by a few months in 2022. They will arrive in May, July, and November, respectively. The Marvels was slowed between late 2022 and February 2023. This also led to Ant-Man, the Wasp: Quantumania being moved back to July 2023. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 remains the only MCU post-2021 movie that was not delayed.
Marvel’s decision not to delay Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. could be due to one factor. The film could already be on its way to production. The original plan was to launch Phase 4 in 2020. However, that was before Disney fired James Gunn, the writer/director. He was eventually rehired. This decision caused the sequel to lose a year in development, and Gunn was forced to go to DC to direct The Suicide Squad. This means that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will not be released in May 2020, it will be available for three more years. Six years have passed between Guardians of the Galaxy vol. It makes sense that Disney & Marvel want to close the gap between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and this sequel.
