BATTLEFIELD’S HAZARDZONE IS A PVPVE MODE SQUAD-BASED THAT SUPPORTS 32 PLAYERS
Battlefield’s Hazard Zone mode has been officially unveiled today. This squad-based, PvPvE mode pits 32 players against each other (24 on the last-gen consoles). It is available on all 7 launch map and focuses more on extracting Data Drives than eliminating your opponents.
Battlefield 2042’s Hazard zone mode divides players into four squads. Each match begins with an overview of each mission area. This will inform you of which areas are more likely to contain Data Drives, enemies, or Uplinks that can be used to summon reinforcements or revive players.
DualShockers’ Tom Henderson leaked details prior to the official announcement. Squads can’t have duplicate specialists, but players can purchase Dark Market Credits, a currency that is specific to battlefield 2042’s Danger Zone mode, to buy equipment before heading into matches.
Dark Market Credits are required to purchase an assault rifle. This will allow you to avoid having to use your Dark Market Credits to buy attachments. Tactical Upgrades can be purchased with the currency to further enhance your capabilities. The deep diving article 5 of 15 is detailed by the developer:
- Extra Throwable – Carry +1 of your chosen throwable Gadget.
- Insider Information – Show the landing position for crashing capsules 30 seconds prior to their arrival.
- Loadout insurance – Pay 25% for upgrades and Loadout costs if you are unable to pay.
- Negotiated Bounty: +50% Dark Marketplace Credits bounty for killing Opposing Forces
- Quickdraw Holster – Swap between weapons 15% quicker
Once you are in the match, you will need to work together with your squad to get as many Data Drives possible. You’ll meet AI-controlled soldiers protecting them and other players looking for them as you move across the map. As the match progresses capsules with more Data Drives will drop in specific areas of the map. However, the intensity of the storm that slowly overtakes the map will increase.
There are many Ammo boxes scattered around the map. Uplinks are the only way to bring a deceased squadmate back from the grave. You lose the match if your entire squad is dead.
Each Hazard Zone match offers only two extraction opportunities. The first is available immediately after the match begins, and the second one can be accessed as the storm approaches its peak. “
You will get more experience and currency the more Data Drives that you collect. This is also reflected in your account level and weapon unlocks.
According to the developer, Hazard Zone matches can take between 5 and 20 minutes depending on how you play and what extraction opportunity you are targeting. It is covered in detail on the Battlefield 2042 website.
Battlefield2042 will launch on November 19, and is headed to PCs, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
