The King’s Man Posters Introduce Stylish New Characters
The King’s Man’s new posters show the characters dressed in period clothing. The King’s Man is a prequel to the Kingsman films, directed by Matthew Vaughn from X-Men First Class. The franchise is based on the comic series The Secret Service by Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons. It follows the Kingsman mission, a secret service organization that plots to eliminate billionaire extremists and drug cartels. Kingsman: The Secret Service, 2014 stars Colin Firth as veteran spy Harry Hart with Taron Egerton playing a recruit. Vaughn and the rest of the cast returned to Kingsman: The Golden Circle in 2017.
After a series of delays due to Disney’s acquisitions of Fox and COVID-19, The King’s Man will be released on December 22, more than two years later than initially planned. The film is set in World War I and will tell the story of the Kingsman organization’s origins. It also introduces audiences to Conrad (Harris Dickinson), Shola, Shola (Djimon Hounsou), Polly (Gemma Arterton), and Orlando (Ralph Fiennes). The team must stop a deadly plot by criminals, tyrants, historical figures, and others. Rhys Ifans and Matthew Goode star and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Charles Dance, Daniel Bruhl, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
The official King’s Man Twitter account has new posters showing the cast in period-appropriate costumes posing for portraits. Hounsou’s Shola is armed with leather-bound weapons, and Hounsou’s Gang of Spys is present and accounted for. Captions joke about the well-dressed agents. The text above Oxford and Conrad reads: “Two Oxfords are the foundation of stylish outfits.” Hollander is also pictured as George V, Wilhelm, and Nicholas II. Ifans is an uncanny Rasputin. Below are seven new posters.
The vintage threads worn by the characters highlight the 100-year gap between The King’s Man (1915) and other films in this franchise (2016). It’s also lovely to see Grigori Rasputin (who died in 1916) appear in The King’s Man. Rasputin is only one of the many historical figures that will appear in The King’s Man. The others include the trio of British, German, and Russian rulers. They will be joined in the audience by Prince Felix Yusupov and Erik Jan Hanussen (clairvoyant), Herbert Kitchener, industrialist Alfred DuPont, and Tsarina Alix. Robert Aramayo will play Gavrilo Princip, who Archduke Franz Ferdinand famously assassinated.
It will be fascinating to see how these new, vibrant characters interact with historical figures. Their interactions shouldn’t be peaceful, as The King’s Man’s trailer with its violent red band is clear. Franz Ferdinand’s assassin is included in the film’s pressure cooker setting. The wartime setting coincides with the murder of Rasputin in the year that he was a poster star, which suggests that The King’s Man will have an egregious, bloody end, not unlike Inglorious Basterds.
Here are all rumors and movies about Kingsman. Fox brought a new series to the big screen, one that wasn’t tied directly to superheroes, as the popularity of comic book movies exploded during the 2010s. The studio released Kingsman: The Secret Service in theaters in 2014. It also introduced audiences to Eggsy (Taron Egerton), a young British spy recruited by the secret Kingsman organization to become a world-class spy. It was a Fox hit and received positive reviews.
Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kingsman, has adapted Mark Millar’s comics. The story of Eggsy’s rise through the Kingsman ranks and his rescue from Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) was the first movie’s focus. In 2017, Kingsman: The Golden Circle was released. Eggsy continued his spy missions to find Poppy Adams, a criminal, and entrepreneur. Both films featured Colin Firth playing Harry Hart and Mark Strong portraying Merlin. They were both there to support Eggsy in his missions. Although Kingsman: The Golden Circle received less favorable reviews than the original, both films earned over $400 million.
