ELDEN RING CHARACTERS – THESE ARE THE NPCS DISCOVERED SO FAR
Elden Ring may move away from Dark Souls’ favorite recipe by focusing more open world gameplay and including mounted fighting, but it will still have its share of characters as we travel across the Lands Between. A few of these NPCs were introduced in the first gameplay preview video for the title, which already showed a world full of character.
If past attempts by the developer are any indication, Elden Ring’s characters may not be as straightforward about their intentions. First revealed are a friendly talking, walking cauldron and what could possibly be the game’s equivalent to Dark Souls’ firekeeper.
It is worth noting that we don’t yet know much about Elden Ring’s characters. This isn’t because it takes patience, reading between lines, or scouring the description of random items for details. This was the first real glimpse of the action-RPG’s potential and it didn’t contain all NPCs.
Here’s the list of characters that we have spotted so far:
Alexander, a.k.a. The Iron Fist
The Tarnished encoutners find a sentient cauldron with functioning feet and arms. It is now stuck in the ground. This is thankfully not something a hit or two of a massive mace can’t fix, and Alexander is “very trained,” making sure his survival.
It remains to be determined if he is the character that holds all the secrets of the universe, or just adds a lighter touch to Elden Ring’s ruins-covered environment. However, there doesn’t seem to be any doubt that he is the ultimate waifu in the game, at least according to this Reddit Thread.
Melina (or Melena, perhaps) appears to the player when she rests at a Site of Grace. This is likely to be the game’s equivalent of Dark Souls’ bonfires. Before offering “an agreement,” she refers to Tarnished as “a traveler from beyond the fog.” She was all we knew about her. However, it is hard to shake the feeling that she could be the Lands Between’s firekeeper.
Stormveil Castle Gatekeeper
The Elden Ring character, found in the room to the right of Stormveil Castle’s main gate, advises the Tarnished to not use it when entering the Dungeon. He suggests a safer route which can be accessed via a huge hole in the wall to his left.
He can advise players to ignore him, or signal for the gates open. This is when the Tarnished discovers that he was not lying about the guards.
He’s a sorcerer who can be found in Stormveil Castle and is looking for “a little bit”. He is also Tarnished and warns players that there are Tarnished Hunters in the castle who will sacrifice their kind to “grafting.” “
In the weeks leading up to launch, other Elden Ring characters may be revealed. Check out our map, crossplay support for more information on this action-RPG.
