Endgame’s IMAX Version Reveals Cap & Thor During Iron Man’s Final Speech

Fans are now able to see the new IMAX version of Avengers Endgame on Disney+. It shows that both Captain America (Chris Evans), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), were present at Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr.). It has been nearly three years since Joe Russo and Anthony Russo concluded the Infinity Saga with their 2019 Marvel Studios movie. The film was also the final act of an era. It served as the swan song for some original Avengers, including the MCU’s first hero.

The surviving Avengers split up after Thanos’ (Josh Brolin’s) catastrophic snap in Avengers. They spent five years apart and went their separate ways. This meant that Tony Stark had time to enjoy his personal life. He married Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and they had a daughter, Morgan (Lexi Rabe). Tony was skeptical about the idea of the time theft and was recruited to join the mission. He was afraid that trying to reverse the snap could endanger his life. He could not stay on the sidelines while his team figured things out, and he finally got back into the uniform to rejoin them. It was his last mission, and he gave his life for a future without Thanos.

The MCU’s main characters gathered at Iron Man’s lakeside cabin to celebrate his passing. He recorded a farewell speech to make sure he made it. The hologram video was shown to his closest friends and family. Many fans have noticed that both Steve Rogers (and Thor) were present in the house at this time. This is thanks to Endegame’s updated IMAX version on Disney+. Check the image from Reddit user u/swccggergallreturns below:

Tony left a hologram message to his friends in Avengers Endgame as a way to say goodbye and leave a message of support if things don’t go according to plan. It also served as a meta-commentary about how the MCU has grown since Iron Man’s 2008 debut. Because Morgan and Pepper were the most affected by the Stark patriarch’s death, the original scene focused on them. They were joined by Rhodey (Don Cheadle) and Happy Hogan(Jon Favreau), his oldest friends. Captain America and Thor are visible in the background. However, the Avengers Endgame version didn’t show them fully. Instead, they are only shown from the neck down. This makes them easy to miss.

Iron Man may be gone in the MCU, at least in the Sacred Timeline — but his legacy lives on. His impact extends far beyond the events of Avengers Endgame and Infinity Saga, but his legacy lives on. This includes series like Ironheart or Armor Wars.

Natasha Romanoff’s (Scarlett Johansson’s) decision subtly explains Captain America’s Captain America Civil War ending at Black Widow’s end. Antony Russo and Joe Russo set the scene for the conclusion of the Infinity Saga with the dissolution of the Avengers in their 2016 movie. Marvel Studios has provided new context for the film via Black Widow, focusing on Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.).

Captain America Civil War centers around The MCU’s introductions of the Sokovia Accords. It is mandated by the United Nations and aims to regulate all activities of “enhanced.” In other words, it is the MCU’s version of the Superhero Registration Act. Captain America is against signing it as he believes it’s vital that the Avengers maintain their autonomy. Iron Man, however, is in favor of it and explains that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are no better than the good guys if they don’t have supervision. The conflict leads to the civil war. Things get personal as Tony learns that Steve deliberately lied about Bucky (Sebastian Stan), killing his parents.

The Avengers were forced to dissolve temporarily because the heroes couldn’t agree on a compromise. The team split up for two years before Thanos (Josh Brolin) arrived and forced many heroes to return to action in Avengers: Infinity War. Tony is presented with a letter from Steve and a burner phone to aid in emergency communications. It was surprising that Cap reached out to Tony after their horrific fight in Siberia. As Black Widow reveals, Natasha decides to return to the U.S. to reunite her “other family” rather than joining Yelena Belov (Florence Pugh) in liberating the Black Widows. It is possible that Black Widow convinced Steve to send the message to his old rival.

Tony and Steve were still apart for the next two years. Even during Thanos’ initial attack in Avengers Infinity War, the two heroes fought on separate fronts. Iron Man was saved by Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) in Avengers End Game, but it wasn’t until then that the two were reunited on Earth. It makes sense that Black Widow convinced Steve to reach out to him first. Although it is not clear if Nat knew anything about Bucky’s involvement with the Starks’ death, given her closeness to Steve and her association with shield, it’s possible that she did. She knew from enough time that Tony would not initiate contact.

She could also feel guilty for leaving Tony after Rhodey’s (Don Cheadle’s) accident. She tried to resolve her feelings and to encourage Captain America to take the next step towards reconciliation. Although Nat was usually stoic, indifferent, and aloof, the breaking up of the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War had a profound impact on her. She was inspired by her experience in the Black Widow standalone film to reunite the Avengers, even though she was not directly responsible for putting Captain America (and Iron Man) back together.
