HBO’s Last Of Us Show Casts Euphoria’s Storm Reid As Riley

HBO’s highly anticipated series The Last of Us has added a cast member to its ranks. Euphoria’s Storm Reid will play Riley, Ellie’s childhood friend. Based on Naughty Dog’s video game, the series will be established. Pedro Pascal will play Joel, the reluctant protagonist, and Bella Ramsey will be Ellie, his ward.

The last of us will follow the same plotline as the first game. Joel and Ellie lead a post-apocalyptic world in which Joel and Ellie are navigating 20 years after a zombie virus spread across the globe. It turned its victims into contagious mutants. Riley made her debut in Last of Universe, in the pages of American Dreams 2013, a prequel comic book to the games. In 2014’s The Last of Us: Leave Behind expansion pack, the character will make her return. This DLC expansion pack allows players to control Ellie and explores Riley’s relationship.

The next step is to bring the character to life in live-action. According to Deadline, Reid has been officially selected to undertake this task. Reid played Gia Bennett in Euphoria and Leigh Whannell in The Invisible Man, Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time, and James Gunn in The Suicide Squad, also seen recently. The upcoming Searching 2 will also feature Reid, the sequel to 2018’s John Cho-starring thriller. Chernobylwriter Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann created the last of us. Kantemir Balagov is directing the pilot episode. The premiere of the series is expected to take place in mid-to-late 2022, although no date has been established.

The character’s introduction to the show is not yet known. The Last of Us will need to tell the character’s story if season one is based upon the first game. Riley is mentioned only in passing; the Last of Us will need to give her any screen time. There is also the possibility that Reid may only appear in flashbacks to Ellie’s past with Joel. The Last of Us will be a story-driven video game with a lot of lore. This means that the writers will have many options to introduce and explore Reid in any way they choose, even if she is different from previous versions.

The Last of Us is a game many consider the best of recent years. Some may even argue that it is the most excellent game. If the show wants to appeal to the avid gamer community, it will have a lot of big shoes to fill. It’s becoming more apparent that Reid, the latest example of a talented cast and crew, could be HBO’s next big hit.
